Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for exams, perform pre-exam testing, and explain procedures. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists, aiding in the patient journey from registration to post-exam steps.

A background in Optical or Healthcare and strong professional demeanor are preferred. The role requires one year of related experience, travel flexibility to other locations, and the ability to work in a dynamic retail environment

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office/business professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit Medical History and Ocular Health data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye exams; explain testing process and document results in EMR.
• Support remote appointments by guiding patients through remote eye exams and documenting results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate after the exam and convey doctor recommendations.
• Understand MVC plans and articulate plan benefits to patients.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP and manage appointment scheduling with stores.
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness and answer clinical questions in person or by phone.
• Instruct patients on lens care, place & stock contact lens orders, and inform patients when lenses are available.
• Keep equipment and supplies clean and secure; adapt to travel to other locations as needed.
