Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care on site. You will help patients select frames and lens options matched to prescription and lifestyle, ensuring proper fit and accurate dispensing.

In this role you will document prescriptions, use EHR/ALE systems, communicate order status, and educate patients on care, warranties, and coverage. A strong emphasis on customer service and accuracy supports patient satisfaction and repeat business.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient; explains customized product/service recommendations.
• Receives patient handoff from technicians or doctors; asks lifestyle questions to identify visual needs and recommends frames, lenses, and coatings.
• Keeps current on company/industry products, procedures, rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Takes and returns patient calls; updates on order status and resolves issues; escalates as needed.
• Assists patients in selecting frames, lens types, and treatments (tints/coatings) per needs and measurements.
• Educates patients on eyeglass and contact lens care, warranty coverage, and replacements.
• Maintains understanding of medical and vision insurance plans, including eligibility and copays.
• Interprets prescriptions, enters into EHR/ALE system, ensures documentation is attached to patient chart.
• Follows up on orders; confirms timelines; notifies patients when eyewear is ready.
