Job summary

AEG in Abilene, TX is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will assist patients with frame and lens selections, ensure proper fit, and dispense lenses accurately, delivering a complete patient experience.

You will work on-site with a collaborative team, uphold HIPAA and insurance knowledge, and stay current with products and procedures to ensure satisfaction and trust with every visit.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required or equivalent.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience as an Optician.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office and general computer skills.
• Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Customer service or sales-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting eyewear and accessories that fit prescription and lifestyle.
• Ensure proper frame fit, lens dispensing, and accuracy in measurements.
• Provide expert product knowledge on frames, lenses, coatings, and treatments.
• Maintain expertise on insurance coverage, benefits, copays, and authorizations.
• Enter prescription data into the EHR system and ensure documentation.
• Deliver an exceptional patient experience and resolve issues promptly.
• Follow up on orders and communicate status to patients.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the practice.
