Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will help patients select frames and lenses, ensure proper fit, and deliver outstanding service while maintaining knowledge of products, insurance, and procedures.

You will use tools like pupilometers and lensometers, interact with technicians, and uphold quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum 1 year experience as an Optician preferred.
• HIPAA experience preferred.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, sales experience preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient with customized recommendations for products and services.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and treatments based on lifestyle and prescription.
• Keeps current on company products, procedures, rebates, and types of lenses and frames.
• Takes and returns patient calls; updates on order status and resolves issues; escalates to management when needed.
• Dispense glasses; inspect product, ensure proper fit, adjust as necessary, and seek feedback.
• Educate patients on eyewear care, warranty coverage, protection plans and replacement options.
• Maintain understanding of medical and vision insurance plans, including eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, authorizations, coverage.
• Interprets prescriptions and enters information into EHR and ALE system with documentation.
• Follow-up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
• Regularly communicate with technicians and managers about orders.
• Inspect final product for flaws; clean and polish lenses.
• Maintain cleanliness and visual appeal of frame boards, displays, and work area.
• Answer patient questions regarding insurance, warranty, products, pricing, promotions, etc.
• Perform other duties as needed and as assigned by manager.
