Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optician who will provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will assist patients in selecting eyewear and accessories that fit their prescription, lifestyle, and personal style.

By ensuring proper frame fit, accurate measurements, and correct lens dispensing, Opticians will combine technical expertise with outstanding customer service. A commitment to quality and patient satisfaction drives trust, loyalty, and repeat business.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient and explains our customized recommendations for products and services.
• Receive patient handoff from technicians or doctors and establish rapport by asking lifestyle questions to identify visual needs and recommend frames, lenses, and accessories.
• Keeps current on company/industry products and procedures, manufacturer rebates, and types of lenses and frames available.
• Takes and returns patient calls, updating patients on the status of their order and resolving issues; escalates to management when needed.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lens type, and lens treatments including tints and coatings.
• Educate patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care, maintenance, warranty coverage, protection plans and replacement options.
• Maintain understanding of medical and vision insurance plans, eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, authorizations, and coverage limitations.
• Interpret prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists and enter into EHR/ALE system.
• Follow-up on pending orders, inform patients of delays, and notify when eyewear is ready.
• Dispense glasses by inspecting product, ensuring proper fit, and requesting feedback.
• Adjust eyewear for fit and comfort using appropriate tools.
• Proficient in using pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, and frame warmers.
• Regularly communicates with technicians and managers for order status.
• Inspect final product for flaws; clean and polish lenses.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and displays.
• Answer patient questions on insurance, warranties, products, materials, pricing, upgrades, promotions.
• Performs other duties as needed by manager.
