Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and implement production processes for aerospace optical hardware. You will integrate design requirements into manufacturing methods, create tooling, and guide production from prototype to full-rate manufacturing.

The role emphasizes DFM, DFA, and DFT considerations, collaboration with design teams, and maintaining comprehensive manufacturing documentation.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years in prototyping, manufacturing, testing, or calibration of optical systems.
  • Experience developing manufacturing/assembly processes for optical elements.
  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Experience leading manufacturing operations and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop production flow for optical products and testing during manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build manufacturing cleanroom space.
  • Source optical specialty equipment and coordinate installation.
  • Plan medium- and long-term scaling of production per programs.
  • Provide producibility feedback to design teams and maintain docs.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions via FMEAs.
