Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to set operations direction for vehicle and subsystem architectures. You will define strategies, ensure manufacturability from inception, and work across manufacturing, supply chain, test, and other operations to bridge gaps.

Join a small, agile team that emphasizes planning, architecture development, and early-phase design influence before hardware builds begin.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Understanding of the component and system development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding methods; producibility focus.
  • Ability to lead technically and coordinate activities across stakeholders.
  • Experience planning R&D hardware builds, BOM management, and non-conformance resolution.
  • Influences design requirements and develops manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAD systems (NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks) and PLM tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; flexible for extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the manufacturing focal for subsystems and AI&T activities, defining manufacturing plans.
  • Support builds of engineering demonstrators and prototype hardware with hands-on involvement.
  • Drive DFX, conduct producibility assessments, and develop roadmaps to close gaps.
  • Create Production Readiness Level artifacts, build strategies, and tooling designs.
  • Collaborate with PM, Design Engineering, and Operations to mitigate manufacturing risks.
