Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optical Consultant to work alongside Optometrists, supporting patient care and education to ensure exceptional service.

Responsibilities include preliminary evaluations prior to exams, scheduling referrals, maintaining patient records in EHR, handling inquiries, performing diagnostic testing, and assisting with clerical duties. The role emphasizes teamwork and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment.
• Proficient PC skills including MS Office and Windows.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Schedule referrals and follow-ups with Ophthalmologists or specialists; complete paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA; respond to patient inquiries about medications and treatments.
• Record and communicate medical findings in the EHR; assist with clerical duties and CPT/billing tasks.
• Ensure schedule utilization through confirmations and recalls; contact no-shows to reschedule.
• Assist with contact lens training and inventory management; handle orders by phone or in person.
• Provide end-of-day wrap-up and maintain clean, organized work area.
