Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optical Consultant to join our team and support Optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. You will perform preliminary evaluations, assist with exams, manage records, and help with referrals and documentation in an EHR system.

Qualifications

• High school or GED qualification is required.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient PC skills, including Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for collaboration with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient evaluations prior to exams.
• Interview patients to determine medical issues before visits.
• Schedule referrals and complete necessary paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries about medications and care.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using equipment like OCT, Visual Field, etc.
• Document medical findings in the EHR and assist with clerical duties.
• Ensure schedule utilization through confirmations and recalls.
• Instruct on contact lens insertion/removal and manage inventory.
• Complete end-of-day wrap-up and cleaning duties.
