Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced front desk/registration specialist in a full-time ophthalmology setting. You will greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, complete registrations, and collect balances while ensuring accurate payment processing.

Collaboration with billing and clinical staff is essential to maintain smooth patient flow. Strong knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA, and ADT software, plus Excel/Outlook proficiency, will support efficient financial clearance and

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; patient access experience preferred.
Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA and EMTALA rules and current insurance pre-certification requirements.
Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret documents and to work with confidential information.
Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and ADT software.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and manage arrival flow to ensure efficient, courteous service.
Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information.
Complete registration for walk-in patients and collect balances where applicable.
Explain and collect out-of-pocket costs; reference insurance and payment policies.
Support financial clearance processes and refer complex cases to Financial Counselor as needed.
Close visits with scheduling, follow-ups, and documentation for patient records.
