Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners, LLC is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support a busy clinic environment. You will greet patients, guide them through visits, and perform diagnostic tests prior to physician examination.

Responsibilities include updating EMR notes, conducting tests of eye function, applying eye medications, and assisting with minor procedures in exam or treatment rooms. You will educate patients on medications and post-operative care while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of EMR systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and explain what to expect during the visit.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and perform diagnostic tests (visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry).
• Enter information into EMR and maintain accurate notes in patient charts.
• Perform tests of eye muscle function, pupil size and reactivity.
• Apply eye drops for anesthesia, dilation or medications.
• Prepare patients for minor procedures and assist with injections or laser treatments.
• Educate patients on medications and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Ensure patient information is confidential and secure per HIPAA requirements.
• De-escalate dissatisfied patients and support team members.
