Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners, LLC seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support clinical care, greet patients, and perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry under physician supervision.

You will enter data into the EMR, maintain records, and comply with HIPAA. The role requires strong communication and basic eye-health knowledge, with travel to local offices including Avon for training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EMR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
• Entry level with 0–3 years of experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and enter information into EMR accurately.
• Explain what to expect during the visit and communicate delays or changes.
• Document chief complaints, illnesses, and medical history.
• Record information in EMR per standards and physician requirements.
• Conduct tests of eye functions and pupil reactivity.
• Apply eye drops for anesthetic, dilation, or medications.
• Assist with minor surgeries and injections, prepare patients for sterile procedures.
• Educate patients on medications and pre/post-operative care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• De-escalate dissatisfied patients with problem-solving.
• Stay current on eye anatomy, diseases, and medications.
• Answer general patient questions and assist with special projects.
