Job summary

Perlmutter Eye Center is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to manage scheduling and patient preparation for ophthalmic surgeries. You will coordinate with surgeons, surgical centers, and patients to ensure accurate scheduling, verify insurance, and maintain documentation.

The role emphasizes compassionate communication of pre- and post-operative instructions, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills as you navigate EMR systems and external portals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of surgical coordinating/scheduling experience.
• Extensive customer service experience, in-person and over the phone.
• Proficiency with EMR systems (ModMed a plus).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Schedule ophthalmic surgeries with surgeons and centers.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Obtain medical clearances and pre-operative testing.
• Communicate pre- and post-operative instructions clearly.
• Maintain EMR records and coordinate with billing and labs.
• Manage surgical waitlist and surgical packets.
• Provide on-site assistance during surgery days as needed.
