Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants in Traverse City, MI seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe / Technician to support physicians in exams and clinic work-ups. The role involves preparing patients and rooms, documenting histories, and assisting with measurements and ocular testing.

You will maintain EMR accuracy, input codes, and ensure patient flow under supervision. Ideal candidates have a High School diploma and familiarity with ophthalmic terminology; OSC/COT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Accurate typing and data entry in EMR.
• Ability to understand and spell medical terms and numbers.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Scribe with retina-specific terminology.
• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments as directed.
• Obtain patient medical and ophthalmic histories.
• Identify concerns and escalate to Physician as needed.
• Measure and record visual acuity and perform preliminary refraction.
• Measure intraocular pressures and assess pupillary responses.
• Perform basic visual field testing and patient education.
• Record vital signs and assist with treatments.
• Complete Ophthalmic Scribe Certification and OSC input per guidelines.
• Instill eye drops and assist with dressings and patches.
• Input appropriate ICD-9/10 codes into EMR.
• Keep rooms stocked and clean; manage supplies and drug counts.
• Provide consistent, excellent customer service.
• May consent patients for procedures.
• Perform OCT and assist physician as needed.
• Assist with patient transfers and travel to other locations.
