Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe / Technician to support physicians in exam rooms and perform preliminary patient workups. You will document histories, measure visual function, and assist with procedures under supervision.

Certification in OSC or COA/COT preferred; travel to other locations may be required. The role requires strong ophthalmic terminology knowledge, excellent typing and communication skills, and proficient EMR use.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of retina-specific ophthalmology terminology and EMR.
• Excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to spell medical terminology and numbers accurately; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Scribe for Physicians and assist with examinations as directed.
• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments and minor procedures.
• Record patient history including medications, allergies, and family ocular history.
• Document and code procedures accurately in EMR.
• Perform basic visual acuity measurements and pupil checks.
• Assist with eye drops, dressings, and patient education as directed.
• Maintain clean, stocked rooms and manage supplies; assist in other departments when needed.
• Travel to other locations as assigned.
• Provide consistent, excellent customer service.
