Job summary

Advocate Health in Winston Salem, NC seeks an Ophthalmology Assistant for Highland Oaks. The role supports technicians and physicians in a busy eye care clinic, performing preliminary screenings and preparing patients for exams.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, CPR certification, and at least one year in eye care. The position is full-time, daytime hours, with a $6,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
• One year of work experience, preferably ophthalmology.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary screenings: patient history, visual acuity, tonometry, pupil exam.
• Assist physician in ophthalmic examinations and testing.
• Maintain ophthalmic lanes and equipment in clinic.
• Clean and stock exam rooms and ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Interact professionally with patients, families, staff and physicians.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in ongoing education to maintain COA certification requirements.
• Under physician direction, handle prescription refills per guidelines.
