Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a dedicated ophthalmic technician to support physicians in diagnostic screenings and patient care at our Winston-Salem facility. The role involves collecting patient histories, performing acuity and ocular tests, and maintaining exam lanes and equipment in a fast-paced clinic.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and at least one year of eye-care experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• CPR certification (AHA or ARC) required.
• One year work experience, preferably in an eye-related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary screenings and documents patient ocular histories.
• Obtain visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, pupil exam, and visual field tests.
• Maintains ophthalmic exam lanes/equipment and cleans exam rooms.
• Ensures exam room/lane are stocked appropriately.
• Interacts professionally with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.
• Maintains CPR certification and ongoing education per JCAHPO guidelines.
• Under physician direction, may perform prescription refills following guidelines.
• Demonstrates dedication to patient service and delivering quality care.
• Performs other duties as needed per certification level.
