Job summary

Advocate Health in High Point, NC is seeking a full-time Ophthalmology Assistant to support eye care services. You will perform screenings, assist physicians, manage exam lanes, and maintain ophthalmic equipment per JCAHPO guidelines.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, CPR certification, and at least one year of ophthalmology experience; a $6,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
• One year ophthalmology-related work experience preferred.
• Basic ophthalmic testing proficiency preferred.
• Knowledge of ophthalmic instrumentation and patient care.
• Ability to multitask and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary screenings as ordered by physician (history, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, pupil exam, ocular meds, visual field testing).
• Maintain ophthalmic exam lanes/equipment and clean/stock exam rooms.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and equipment is ready for use.
• Interact with patients, families, staff, and physicians professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain required CPR certifications and pursue ongoing continuing education.
• Under physician direction, assist with prescription refills per guidelines.
• Demonstrate commitment to patient service and quality care.
• Perform other duties as needed per certification level.
