Job summary

The Retina Care Center, York, PA, part of Prism Vision Group, seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to perform exams, tests, and documentation to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment. The role is non-exempt and onsite with occasional travel to other locations based on business needs.

Responsibilities include chart reviews, history taking, visual acuity, OCT, visual fields, photography, and biometry, plus assisting with medications and patient education.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Record ocular and systemic history and visual acuity.
• Perform tests such as OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Conduct lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exams and tonometry.
• Assist physician and act as scribe entering data into EMR.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Support office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and manage patient flow.
• Maintain clean, orderly exam rooms; comply with regulations.
