Job summary

Prism Vision Group seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant at The Retina Care Center in Hanover, PA. This onsite role supports physicians with tests, measurements, and documentation to assist diagnoses and treatment plans.

Responsibilities include history taking, recording visual acuity, conducting tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry), and scribing in EMR. Occasional travel may be required; high attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing per exam type, including OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, and biometry.
• Performs slit lamp exam including tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers ophthalmic medications and supports informed consent.
• Assists with patient education and manages patient flow.
• Maintains exam room cleanliness and adherence to procedures.
