Prism Vision Group’s Retina Care Center in York, PA is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our onsite team. This non-exempt role supports physicians with measurements and tests and documents results to aid diagnoses and treatments.

You will perform exams, record visual acuity, assist with advanced ophthalmic procedures, and help manage patient flow while ensuring compliance with standards and patient care quality.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline preferred.
• Ophthalmic Assistant 0-2 years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: accountability, accuracy, adaptability, communication, empathy, initiative, judgment, reliability, teamwork, computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing (OCT, automated fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry and slit lamp exam including tonometry and anterior chamber angle assessment.
• Performs advanced ophthalmic procedures.
• Acts as scribe and enters data in EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with office procedures and informed consent.
• Assists with patient education and manages patient flow.
• Maintains exam rooms and compliance with procedures and regulations.
