Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a transportation supervisor to lead a team and ensure shipments move on time and damage-free. You will plan daily staffing, supervise operations, and collaborate with customers and partners to maintain service standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
• Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, DOT rules, OSHA, NMFC and Tariff rules, and related policies.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Multi-tasking and strong organizational skills.
• Microsoft Office and Internet proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, educate and develop company employees focusing on retention and growth.
• Supervise and direct employee work with a focus on quality, customer deliverables and safety.
• Actively monitor and educate employees on unsafe acts/conditions, correcting immediately.
• Plan daily manpower needs and set schedules for on-time, damage-free freight.
• Communicate job assignments clearly and coordinate with all employees.
• Monitor service freight and ensure cut time compliance.
• Identify opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining safety.
• Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and setting appointments.
• Monitor performance data and gather information for reporting.
• Build relationships with business partners to meet service standards.
• Identify freight with incorrect weight/classification; ensure OS&D is processed.
• Perform administrative functions as required.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies.
