Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a hands-on Operations Leader to guide employees in delivering on-time, damage-free freight. You will lead, educate and develop a team while monitoring safety, quality and efficiency standards across daily operations.

You will balance manpower planning with customer-focused tasks, coordinate with partners, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies. A strong communication and organizational skillset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
• Knowledge of LTL Industry, DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA Laws, Hazardous Materials Regulations, NMFC and Tariff Rules, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Multi-tasked oriented and possess good organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, educate and develop employees focusing on retention and growth.
• Supervise and direct employee work with a focus on quality, customer deliverables and safety performance.
• Actively monitor unsafe acts/conditions and apply corrective actions as needed.
• Plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to ensure on-time deliveries and pickups.
• Coordinate with employees to ensure assignments are clear and concise.
• Monitor service freight and ensure cut time compliance.
• Identify opportunities to cut costs while maintaining safety standards.
• Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and scheduling.
• Monitor performance data and contribute to reporting.
• Build relationships with business partners to meet service standards.
