Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Operations Manager in Training to lead the Service Operations department across store locations. The program combines hands-on operations with CarMax’s Senior Management Development Program, focusing on inventory management, cosmetic/mechanical repair, and end-to-end production processes.

You will supervise multiple managers and a large frontline team, own KPIs, P&L, and safety programs, and travel between locations as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of management experience, retail management preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• Willingness to work across multiple locations or relocate.

Responsibilities

• Lead Service Operations, including reconditioning, cosmetic, production, and automotive service functions.
• Oversee staffing, performance management, and development plans for managers and frontline staff.
• Manage KPIs, production capacity, quality, cycle time, and costs; drive continuous improvement.
