Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Transportation Services Manager to coordinate and optimize courier routes for a defined client group in the Pittsburgh area. You will contract with Independent Contractors as drivers, maintain relationships, and document visits and service issues.

You’ll review delivery metrics, ensure contractual requirements are met, and troubleshoot eCMobile issues while managing driver pay activities and margin tracking.

Qualifications

• Experience with utilizing Independent Contractors, logistics/courier route management, route scheduling, and customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for driver and customer interactions.
• Effective verbal and written communication at all organizational levels.
• Independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize competing or deadline-driven tasks.
• Understanding of the independent contractor relationship.
• Ability to work from home with travel throughout the assigned area as required.
• Ability to work additional hours for operational issues when necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Valid driver’s license and clean, functional vehicle.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• College degree with some experience, or high school diploma with equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate transportation services for an assigned group of customers.
• Identify, transmit, and satisfy customer needs by contracting and utilizing Independent Contractors as delivery drivers.
• Meet frequently with clients to build relationships and complete visit documentation.
• Review on-time delivery, piece scan, and location scan metrics by account.
• Create, review, and resolve service issues using Delivery Incident Reports.
• Complete customer reports and audits.
• Meet potential Independent Contractors to verify candidate capabilities.
• Meet with Independent Contractors regarding routes, stops, issues, client concerns, and scanning.
• Orient Independent Contractors to client standards and SOPs and enter information into the system.
• Monitor services to ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Troubleshoot eCMobile issues.
• Plan route coverage and route changes and communicate them to Independent Contractors.
• Ensure services are performed in a timely manner.
• Negotiate contracted services and settlements with Independent Contractors.
• Monitor gross margin by account against budget targets.
• Complete driver pay activities, including SORs, service type adjustments, and manual adjustments.
• Perform other assigned duties.
