Job summary

Black Bear Diner is seeking an Assistant Manager to be the right-hand person to the General Manager, leading shifts and coordinating planning, training and leadership for sales, costs and profitability. The role includes interviewing, hiring and training staff, ensuring front and back-of-house readiness, and maintaining high guest service with quality food delivered promptly.

Responsibilities also involve staffing oversight, coaching, and ensuring compliance with food safety and labor guidelines

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• ServSafe certified.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to listen and influence.
• Ability to analyze P&L, cash controls, labor costs and yields.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift and ensure guest service standards meet company expectations.
• Interview, hire and train team members; manage payroll as assigned.
• Monitor inventory and control costs; analyze profits and losses.
• Develop and post labor schedules; adjust for sales volume.
• Ensure food safety and compliance with health regulations.
