Job summary

Black Bear Diner Milpitas, CA, is seeking an Assistant Manager to be the right-hand person to the General Manager, overseeing planning, training and leadership to achieve sales and profitability goals.

Responsibilities include staffing, interviewing and training, payroll processing, cost control, and ensuring guest service and food quality standards are met, with flexibility to lead shifts and open/close when needed.

Qualifications

• High School or GED; some college preferred; Previous restaurant experience required.
• Must be ServSafe certified or become ServSafe certified within 30 days of hire.
• No one under the age of 21 is allowed to be a Diner Manager.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead guest service to meet Black Bear Diner standards.
• Manage shift coverage and staffing with GM approval for hires.
• Develop labor schedules and adjust to sales volume.
• Monitor costs and analyze profits/loss statements.
• Hire, interview and train team members.
