Job summary

Black Bear Diner is seeking an Assistant Manager to be the right-hand person to the General Manager. You will oversee planning, training, and leadership to achieve sales, cost, and profitability targets, and may lead shifts independently.

You will hire and train Team Members, monitor guest service, ensure food quality, and manage scheduling while maintaining compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required; some college preferred.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift in absence of General Manager and supervise staff.
• Oversee guest service quality and ensure fast, friendly service.
• Assist in hiring, training and coaching Team Members.
• Monitor labor schedules and ensure proper staffing levels.
• Manage inventory, costs and adherence to safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations.
• Coordinate with GM on achieving sales and profitability goals.
