This role supports the Stop Loss business. Experience with Major Medical Group Health, Stop Loss, Self Funded, or Fully Insured is preferred.

Compensation Grade: H2

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.

Job Summary:

As a Director, you will oversee daily operations and administration, ensuring excellent service to our sales partners, firms, third-party administrators, producers, and customers. You will also ensure compliance with all financial controls, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead department roles and responsibilities, managing daily operations and staff, aligning projects with company standards and compliance.
  • Supervise staff involvement in major projects, driving process improvements to enhance service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of coaching and development, managing performance and talent succession planning.
  • Develop and deliver training on processes and procedures, building relationships through presentations and direct contact.
  • Monitor workflow activities, ensuring timely and quality completion of functions, and oversee service issue resolution.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, prepare for audits, and respond to regulatory inquiries with guidance from Compliance.
  • Oversee design, development, and enhancement of business processes and technology, aligning with regulatory standards.
  • Manage expenses and develop strategies to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Provide oversight for producer onboarding, compensation processing, and adherence to financial controls.
  • Support underwriting operations to maintain satisfactory performance and compliance.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Associate Vice President or Vice President. Manages a team of 3-10 direct reports, with potential for indirect reports.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, management, finance, pre-law, or related field; technical insurance coursework preferred.
  • FINRA Series 6 and 26 licenses may be required.
  • Typically 10 years of experience in financial services, with supervisory experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance industry concepts, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Other criteria, including leadership competencies, may take precedence. Staffing exceptions require approval.
