Job summary

Jefferson Health's Abington campus is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a part-time schedule (24 hours/week, day shift). Completion of Perioperative 101 is preferred, with a focus on patient- and family-centered care and teamwork across the care spectrum.

The nurse applies the nursing process, develops individualized plans of care with patients and designated care partners, and ensures culturally respectful, safe, and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma required for RN practice.
• Knowledge of patient- and family-centered care.
• Cultural awareness in diverse patient populations.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and team members.
• Knowledge of patient assessment and care planning.
• Ability to educate patients and caregivers effectively.
• Medication administration and safe prescribing principles.
• Discharge planning and post-discharge care coordination.
• Clinical judgment in assessment and diagnosis.
• Proficiency in health information documentation (EHR).
• BLS certification required by AHA.
• Active RN license in state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients, families and staff to deliver respectful, evidence-based care.
• Identify learning needs of patients and caregivers and provide clear education.
• Use information systems to communicate, manage knowledge and monitor care outcomes.
• Work within inter-professional teams to ensure safe, coordinated patient care.
• Demonstrate problem solving and conflict resolution; support staff development.
• Participate in safety and quality improvement activities and committees.
