Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support and audit safety programs across our projects. You will work closely with the field teams to promote buy-in and ensure adherence to policies and OSHA/MSHA standards.

The role involves daily collaboration with craft workers, incident investigations, hazard inspections, and providing safety trainings. A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred, with strong communication and organization skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Preferred certification as Safety Professional or EMT.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and update of the SSSP and communicate it to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Enforce Stop Work to ensure policy compliance.
• Plan with operations using leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA/MSHA compliant project files and safety records.
