Job summary

Kiewit invites a Safety Specialist to reinforce our safety culture across diverse projects. You will develop and audit safety programs, collaborate with field teams, and ensure adherence to OSHA/MSHA standards while supporting incident investigations and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA requirements.
• Safety professional certification or EMT preferred.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, reviewing, updating, and communicating the SSSP to all stakeholders including subcontractors.
• Collaborate daily with field craft to promote buy-in and ownership of safety program.
• Exercise Stop Work responsibilities to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Support staff and craft in executing the SSSP and maintaining compliance.
• Maintain project files per OSHA/MSHA regulations and internal policies.
• Assist with first aid and establish relationships with EMS and clinics.
• Investigate incidents and implement effective corrective actions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and guide corrective actions with teams.
• Review work plans prior to start to ensure safety steps are in place.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client requirements.
