Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit safety programs in the field. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and help apply contract safety expectations, corporate manuals, and district standards to ensure safe work execution.

Responsibilities include implementing the Site Specific Safety Plan, conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations, and safety training for staff and craft employees, with relocation opportunities across projects.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field preferred.
• Authorized to work without sponsorship.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to access construction sites in varying environments.

Responsibilities

• Create, support, and audit safety programs to reinforce company safety commitments.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) in the field.
• Verify compliance with policies, regulations, and project plans; assist with corrective actions.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client requirements.
• Lead hazard inspections and incident investigations; implement effective solutions.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and incident records.
