Job summary

HomeFirst in San Jose, CA seeks a Resident Advocate for the EIH Rue Ferrari Expansion. This entry-level, on-site position supports participants with housing plans, safety, and access to services.

You will coordinate with on-site staff, maintain HMIS records, and lead workshops on topics from financial literacy to tenant rights, while upholding trauma-informed care and client-centered practices. A non-exempt, full-time role with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• AA degree or two years of field experience in social services
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals
• Experience working with unhoused population

Responsibilities

• Care, safety and supervision of program participants on site
• Enforce EIH guidelines and site rules
• Greet guests, clients, volunteers and staff
• Check in/out guests using HMIS
• Assist with housing plans and referrals
• Lead weekly workshops on topics like financial literacy, rights, mediation, and job search
