Astrix Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking an IT Lab Support Technician to provide onsite help desk support for scientists and lab personnel. You will assist with lab instruments, workstations, and software in a research setting.

The role requires 1–2 years in lab IT, a Bachelor’s degree, and proficiency across Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is a part-time, onsite position (20 hours/week) with potential for extension.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 1-2 years of IT Lab Support, Help Desk, Desktop Support, or Lab IT experience.
• Experience supporting laboratory, scientific, research, healthcare, or biotech environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows and macOS (Linux preferred).
• Experience supporting laboratory instruments and scientific software.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite IT support for scientists, researchers, and laboratory staff.
• Troubleshoot and support Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.
• Support laboratory instruments and workstations, including HPLCs, SpectraMax, microscopes, and NGS platforms.
• Install, configure, and maintain laboratory software and hardware.
• Support applications such as Empower, QXManager, SoftMax Pro, JMP, and GraphPad.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, printer, and connectivity issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, system updates, and user account administration.
• Assist with data backup, asset management, and system documentation.
• Train users on laboratory workstation and software best practices.
