Job summary

HomeFirst seeks a Temporary Resident Advocate for the Emergency Interim Housing First Street site in San Jose. You will oversee daily on-site operations, welcome participants and guests, and support access to housing resources and services.

Responsibilities include facilitating housing plan development, leading weekly workshops, maintaining safety, and documenting incidents while upholding trauma-informed care and client-centered practices.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent of 2 years of higher education in social services.
• Two years of field experience in social services.
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals.
• Experience working with unhoused population.

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Service: care, safety, and supervision of participants on site.
• Check guests in/out using HMIS and complete intake assessments.
• Lead weekly on-site workshops for participants and respond to crises using de-escalation techniques.
