Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Resident Advocate to manage on-site operations at the EIH Cherry program in San Jose. You will oversee participant safety, coordinate services, and support housing plan development in a low-barrier, harm-reduction setting.

Ideal candidates demonstrate empathy, strong communication, and crisis-management skills. Aimed at helping participants move toward permanent housing with trauma-informed care and community collaboration.

Qualifications

• AA degree (or equivalent of 2 years of higher education) or two years of field experience in social services.
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals.
• Experience working with unhoused population.

Responsibilities

• Care, safety and supervision of program participants and guests.
• Check guests in/out using HMIS.
• Develop and update individualized housing plans.
• Lead weekly on-site workshops (financial literacy, tenant rights, etc.).
• Respond to guest crises using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care.
