Job summary

IPG is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of packaging equipment at customer locations. The role requires hands-on electrical/mechanical aptitude, strong communication, and the ability to work independently in the field.

Preferred candidates hold a technical associate degree or equivalent field service experience, with the ability to travel and lift heavy equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; technical field preferred.
• Experience with electrical/electromechanical systems and fault diagnosis at customer sites.
• Basic mechanical skills to disassemble/repair components safely.
• Experience with packaging automation systems preferred.
• Proficient with PC applications (MS Office) for documentation.
• Able to use diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Strong communication to explain technical issues to customers.
• Ability to read diagrams, wiring schematics, manuals, and drawings.
• Customer-focused with good organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% and work extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of IPG/Better Packages equipment at customer locations.
• Install, repair, and PMs; diagnose issues using tools and documentation.
• Provide on-the-job training to customer maintenance teams as needed.
• Schedule and execute PM programs to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
• Document service actions, submit reports, and maintain accurate records.
• Perform software upgrades on WAT units and other equipment when required.
• Support senior technicians on complex field service jobs and escalations.
• Travel frequently to customer sites and carry out emergency repairs as needed.
