Job summary

IPG/Better Packages is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs at customer locations in the United States. You will ensure equipment uptime, support production needs, and deliver high-quality technical service in the field.

The role requires hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent customer communication, and the ability to work independently while representing IPG/Better Packages at customer sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical and electromechanical systems; diagnose faults on site.
• Basic mechanical skills to disassemble/repair components safely.
• Experience in packaging automation systems preferred.
• Experience using PC applications (Microsoft Office) for documentation.
• Proficiency with hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong communication to explain issues to non-technical customers.
• Ability to read technical diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Strong customer service, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays; valid driver's license or passport.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain expert knowledge of IPG/Better Packages products and communicate value to customers during site visits.
• Perform on-site installation, repair, and preventive maintenance; diagnose issues; provide on-the-job training as needed.
• Establish, schedule, and execute Preventive Maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Assist with field testing, evaluation, and debugging of new products; document issues and provide feedback.
• Follow field service procedures: issue RMAs, complete work orders, document actions, submit reports.
• Perform software upgrades on WAT units and other equipment when required.
• Support Senior Technicians on complex field service jobs and escalations.
• Perform other field duties including emergency repairs, training, projects, audits.
