Job summary

Fort Vancouver High School, part of Vancouver Public Schools, invites applications for Special Program Paraeducator 1, Intensive Academic Classroom. This one-on-one position supports students under the guidance of a certified teacher, 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage challenging behavior, and willingness to participate in training including CPI de-escalation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or 60 semester credits / 72 quarter credits; or ParaPro Assessment score 461+.
• One year of experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience on an educational team preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals and IEPs.
• Support students during class activities in small groups or one-on-one.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises and follow behavior plans.
• Assist with data entry, records, and instructional materials.
• Observe and report student behavior to appropriate staff.
