Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP). This one-on-one position runs 6.5 hours per day across a 9-month year and is non-exempt under FLSA.

The role supports students with disabilities, collaborates with certified staff, and participates in required trainings and team meetings. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and either college credits or ParaPro assessment per district requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or 90 quarter/60 semester credits OR 72 quarter/48 semester credits or ETS ParaPro Assessment 461+.
• One year of related experience in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Treat coworkers, students, and families with dignity and respect at all times.
• Assist the teacher in implementing goals and objectives on IEPs.
• Provide instructional support and behavior management for students.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises and follow behavior plans.
• Prepare teaching materials and assist with data entry and record keeping.
• Attend team meetings and participate in training as required.
