Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills to provide one-on-one support to a student. The role is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, non-exempt, and requires working under guidance with an educational team.

Responsibilities include assisting the teacher with IEP goals, preparing materials, maintaining records, and helping students with life skills and academic tasks. Training in de-escalation and CPI may be required.

Qualificações

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED AND
• Official transcripts verifying education or ParaPro required; 461+ on ParaPro
• One year of related experience in an educational setting preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to think quickly and work well under guidance
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred

Responsabilidades

• Assist the teacher in implementing goals and objectives on individual student IEPs
• Provide instructional assistance and manage student behavior in small groups or individually
• Prepare materials for lessons and maintain data collection records
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises and follow behavior plans
• Assist with transportation-related tasks as assigned
• Ensure safety, observe students, and communicate observations to staff
