Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for integrated communication & sensory program. This one-on-one position is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year and is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The role requires high school diploma or GED with specific education options or ParaPro score, plus experience and strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities to support students with disabilities. Training and safety protocols are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and required additional education as specified.
• Official transcripts showing an Associate’s degree or 72 quarter / 48 semester credits; or ParaPro score 461+.
• One year of related experience in an education setting preferred.
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to support classroom goals.
• Problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution abilities.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsabilités

• Treat coworkers, supervisors, students, parents with dignity and respect.
• Serve as a positive role model and support classroom goals per IEPs.
• Participate in team meetings and provide observational input.
• Monitor and collect data as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with materials preparation and data collection records.
• Carry out behavior management plans for individual students as appropriate.
• Observe students in various settings and ensure safety.
• Attend training to work with students with special needs.
