Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for an integrated communication and sensory program. This one-on-one role operates 6.5 hours daily for 9 months, with responsibilities including supporting goals and IEPs, data collection, and behavior management under the guidance of certificated staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience in educational settings and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or 72 quarter/48 semester credits or ParaPro score 455+ may satisfy.
• One year of related experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience in an educational team environment preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to support classroom goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals and IEPs.
• Monitor and collect data as directed by the teacher; maintain records.
• Provide instructional assistance and support for classroom activities.
• Assist with behavior management plans for individual students.
• Attend training meetings to broaden expertise in working with students with special needs.
• Observe and report student behavior to appropriate staff.
