Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Communication & Sensory Program. This one-on-one role runs 6.5 hours per day, nine months per year, non-exempt.

The position involves assisting with individual student goals, data collection, and support within a collaborative school team to foster development and safety. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, with preferred additional qualifications or paraeducator assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework preferred.
• Associate’s degree or 60 semester credits/72 quarter credits OR ParaPro score 455+.
• Minimum one year of related experience with children in education preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with students of varied abilities.
• Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and de-escalate conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing IEP goals and classroom objectives.
• Provide one-on-one support to students in integrated communication and sensory programs.
• Monitor student behavior, collect data, and assist with data-entry and record-keeping.
• Support with instructional activities, basic life skills, and therapy exercises as directed.
• Attend trainings and work with a team to ensure student safety and progress.
