Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Coordinator, Financial Counseling to support patients and providers with financial clearance and education before services. The role focuses on minimizing financial risk and improving reimbursement outcomes within the Revenue Cycle.

The position emphasizes proactive communication, collaboration across clinical and administrative teams, and ensuring patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA standards. Strong systems navigation is required.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with billing systems and interpreting EOBs.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding and managed care concepts.
• Familiarity with oncology or specialty care preferred.
• Experience navigating EMR, Registration/PMS, VOB systems.

Responsibilities

• Review daily schedules to identify patients requiring financial clearance.
• Educate patients on expected financial responsibility (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, OOP max).
• Provide clear communication regarding treatment costs and payment expectations prior to services.
• Assist patients in understanding their financial obligations prior to services.
• Evaluate potential financial risks such as coverage limitations and medical necessity concerns.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to reduce claim denials and support pre-service financial issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of financial discussions and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams to support revenue cycle processes.
