Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Coordinator, Financial Counseling to support patients and providers with financial clearance and education prior to services. This role helps improve reimbursement outcomes and minimize financial risk through proactive communication.

The position focuses on coordination across revenue cycle processes, with emphasis on patient-centered financial discussions, documentation, and HIPAA-compliant practices in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a healthcare business office or revenue cycle role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of insurance, benefits and patient financial assistance programs.
• Familiarity with oncology treatment pathways and high-cost drugs is preferred.
• Experience with billing systems and interpreting EOBs.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review daily schedules to identify patients needing financial clearance.
• Educate patients on expected financial responsibility (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, OOP max).
• Provide clear communication regarding costs and payment expectations before services.
• Identify and mitigate potential financial risks and denial risks.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to reduce claim denials.
