Job summary

Covenant Health is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Schedule Coordinator to support the Oncology Group in Knoxville, TN. This full-time role manages referrals, coordinates patient records, verifies insurance, and schedules the first appointment within defined timelines.

You will communicate with referring providers, office staff, and patients; prepare intake paperwork; and ensure accurate data entry in eCare, STAR, and Mosaiq systems, while upholding policy and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Medical setting or high-volume call center experience.
• Ability to coordinate referrals and intake processes.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Receives and documents new patient referrals from multiple channels according to department processes.
• Triage referrals with medical staff and obtain medical records and pertinent information for care coordination.
• Collects, organize and verify patient demographic and insurance data in registration systems (eCare, STAR, Mosaiq).
• Communicates with referring providers, clinical staff, multidisciplinary colleagues, patients and others as needed.
• Reviews clinic schedules to fill appointment slots according to guidelines.
• Prepares and provides patient instructions and appointment details in writing and orally.
• Explains and provides new patient packets via MedChat, eMail, website download, or mail.
• Demonstrates professional communication and call handling, including handling upset/distressed customers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and follows policies and safety standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
