Job summary

Compass Oncology is seeking a New Patient Coordinator to act as a liaison among the practice, hospital, support services, and payors to ensure an optimal patient experience during cancer treatment.

This full-time role at West Cancer Center in Tigard, OR involves collecting patient information, coordinating referrals and appointments, assisting with insurance verification, and providing patient education materials.

Qualifications

• At least four years of directly related experience in medical office, coding or billing, patient advocate, or social services.
• Must articulate information clearly and be personable.
• Proficiency with computer systems, medical billing systems, and Microsoft Office Outlook & Word.

Responsibilities

• Before a patient’s first appointment, obtain basic chart information (diagnosis, physician, personal data, insurance).
• Coordinate physician referrals and oncology-related appointments; resolve insurance billing and coding issues.
• Verify insurance eligibility; assess patient financial requirements; educate patients on benefits and co-pays; obtain pre-authorization.
• Provide patient education materials and maintain education resources (brochures, videos).
• Refer patients to community agencies and services as needed; maintain resource lists.
• Respond to inquiries and offer solutions in a timely and professional manner.
