Job summary

Compass Oncology is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator at the East Cancer Center in Clackamas, Oregon. This full-time role schedules appointments across office visits, labs, chemotherapy, and external referrals, serving as a liaison between patients and medical staff.

Responsibilities include triaging calls, collecting demographics and insurance data, and maintaining a calm, compassionate patient experience in a high-volume oncology setting with MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • At least two years of office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking in reading, interpreting, and executing provider orders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to adjust priorities based on patient or clinic needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly.
  • Calm, professional demeanor in a high-volume specialty practice.
  • Comfort around patients, family members and caregivers during stressful times.
  • Proficiency with computer systems; Microsoft Office Outlook & Word, required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of patient confidentiality to protect patients and clinic.
  • Accurately and efficiently schedules patient medical appointments across multiple services.
  • Assist patient in coordinating external referrals as ordered by the provider.
  • Obtains and maintains accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Researches and responds to routine and non-routine patient inquiries with timely resolution.
  • Answers incoming calls, directs to appropriate personnel, and uses patient portal messaging.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships across departments.
  • Attends weekly team huddles led by the Provider to discuss patient cases.
  • Participates in staff meetings and collaborative efforts as needed.
  • Acts as a training resource for clinic staff including shadowing and onboarding.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality to support team operations.
